A Place in the Sun star, Jean Johansson, who grew up in Port Glasgow said “ I’d heard of Home-Start and the valuable work they do across Inverclyde so when they asked me to come on board as Ambassador I jumped at the chance. It was wonderful to spend time with the parent and child group to see and hear the level of support they’re given and hear about the invaluable service provided by the volunteers. I look forward to popping in to more groups, spending time with families and helping fundraise for such a worthwhile charity”
Our Director, Carol Gemmell, said “Referrals to our service are higher than ever right now, just after Christmas and with the cost-of-living crisis placing additional stresses on young families. Jean’s enthusiasm for our work locally is a great endorsement of all that our staff and volunteers do"
Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde has a dedicated team of staff and volunteers trained to support families in need, working with over 200 families locally right now. We train and support our volunteers and are always looking for more volunteers with a desire to give a friendly, non-judgmental helping hand to other families in the area. With Family Hubs in Greenock and Paisley, Home-Start helps families with young children through a range of issues, including loneliness, isolation, domestic abuse, and bereavement, to be the best parents they can be and provide their children with the best start in life.
We are absolutely delighted to have Jean on board and look forward to sharing our adventures with her.
