Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde wants to see a society in which every parent/carer has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life.

Raising a family is difficult and many parents/carers need help, friendship, advice or support during those early years when children are young.

There is no rulebook for raising a family and sometimes it can seem overwhelming, particularly if your family is going through difficult times and you don't have anyone to turn to.

Through a team of volunteers Home-Start provides one-to-one support for parents/carers with one or more children under five years old. Volunteers commit to visit the family’s home for a couple of hours every week and the type of support the volunteer gives depends very much on the needs of the family. Volunteers are carefully matched with the family they support so that their life experience and skills as well as personalities allow for a trusting relationship to develop. Families are referred to us for a wide range of reasons but the one thing they have in common is that they want to give their child the best possible start.

Maybe you need someone to talk to who won't judge you; a shoulder to cry on or perhaps someone to play with or read to your children; maybe a bit of support to make or keep medical appointments or someone to introduce you to local activities for children. You decide.
